LONGi, the world leading solar technology company, has partnered with Solar Electric Vietnam (SEV) to provide a 5.4kWp rooftop system at the United Nations International School (UNIS) in Hanoi.
UNIS Hanoi, a non-profit organisation staffed by individuals of more than 60 different nationalities, has been a leading international school for over 30 years and is committed to the integration of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into its teaching and learning. The rooftop system will be a visual case study for mathematics and science based activities and discussions on the topic of ‘SDG 13 - Climate Action’, covering global climate change and the reduction of CO2 emissions.
The system is provided to UNIS on a pro-bono basis, and is installed in the school car park for training purposes, enabling students to intuitively experience solar energy and a low carbon lifestyle, inspiring them to participate in the ongoing development of renewable energy in Vietnam. Son Le, an SEV engineer, commented: ‘Despite the small scale of this project in SEV terms, its aim is close to my heart and working on it has been a really positive experience, knowing as I do that the system which I design will be used for educating many generations of pupils’.
The rapid development of Vietnam’s solar energy market over the course of the past two years has elevated the country to the status of one of the go-to destinations in the ASEAN region for renewable energy project development. LONGi has achieved sales of an impressive 2.5+GW of solar modules in just over a year, gaining a top 3 market share, while SEV has achieved 50+MWp of rooftop installations, both companies fully agreeing on the vitally important role of education in inspiring the young generation of Vietnamese to embrace sustainable development in order to create a green future for the country.
