LONGi, the world leader in solar technology, is adding another half-cut cell module version to its successful Hi-MO 5 product range. Developed specifically for European markets, it is based on the global standard M10 wafer size and features 66 cells and a new frame design. With the new design, installers have the added option to position modules horizontally as well as vertically, with brackets that can attach to both the shorter sides of the frame and the longer ones. This flexibility allows for the maximising of available space when installing large systems on roofs and on the ground. Options for fixing the shorter sides of other modules that are the same size or bigger are usually limited. At the very least, the installation process takes a lot longer and involves more materials. This adaptable version of LONGi’s Hi-MO 5m module changes that.
Horizontal, vertical, or mixed: More options for system design
The new Hi-MO 5m module version with 66 cells is especially well-suited for horizontal set-ups in utility-scale and large rooftop installations. Planning becomes a lot more flexible when modules aren’t restricted to vertical installation. And the module is also compatible with standard installation systems.
It’s thus now possible to set up horizontal systems with six rows, without the need for all the extra rails and brackets that previously entailed. Installers can also fix brackets to some short sides and some long sides. In addition, there’s scope for flat-roof systems with brackets in the corners on the short sides.
Combining of specialist cell knowledge and frame engineering
The company’s solar technology specialists adjusted the number of cells for the new module, modifying and reinforcing the design to ensure sufficient mechanical stability. The new version is based on trusted technology from LONGi’s Hi-MO 5 range, from which it has already supplied more than 30 gigawatts’ capacity of products.
The premium products in LONGi’s Hi-MO 5 range are designed to last, with gallium-doped half-cut cells and high resistance against light ageing thanks to the low-LID technology. The modules have already been recognised multiple times as “High Achievers” and “Top Performers” by RETC and PVEL. They were also honoured with the Intersolar Award in 2021.
