In a recent expert discussion, Baoshen Zhong, Chairman of LONGi, shared comprehensive insights into the company’s strategic direction and innovations, with a particular focus on back contact (BC) technology. In the corresponding interview, which took place earlier this month, Baoshen Zhong highlighted LONGi’s commitment to advancing solar back contact technology and its significant impact on the European market. The discussion “Toward New Frontiers: BC Symbiosis” was held in the Solar Energy Research Institute at Shanghai and hosted by the Photovoltaic Subcommittee of the China Green Supply Chain Alliance.
Back contact technology is the driving force behind advances in solar technology
Zhong also explained the strategic focus and principles of Back Contact (BC) technology. “Back contact technology represents a significant advancement in solar module efficiency and aesthetics,” Zhong noted. BC technology would involve placing all electrical contacts on the rear side of the solar cells, which would reduce shading on the front side and increase the overall efficiency of the module. As well as enhancing performance, this core feature would also improve the appearance of the solar panels, making them more suitable for residential and commercial installations.
Zhong also discussed the benefits for customers. “Our BC modules are designed to meet the highest standards of performance and reliability,” he said. By incorporating BC technology, LONGi would aim to provide customers with cutting-edge solar solutions that deliver superior energy output and long-term durability.
“We are committed to supporting Europe’s energy transition”
Zhong spoke about the importance of strategic partnerships and collaboration in advancing solar technology. He mentioned LONGi’s ongoing efforts to work closely with European partners to drive innovation and expand the reach of solar energy solutions. “Collaboration is key to our joint success,” Zhong remarked. By fostering strong relationships with industry stakeholders, LONGi would aim to accelerate the transition to a more sustainable energy future.
In the interview, Zhong underlined LONGi's commitment to providing high quality solar products and services to its European customers. He expressed confidence in the company’s ability to meet the growing demand for renewable energy solutions in the region. “We are committed to supporting Europe’s energy transition,” Zhong stated. LONGi’s focus on customer satisfaction and continuous improvement would ensure that it remains a trusted partner for solar energy projects across Europe.
Strong R&D and innovations remain LONGi’s DNA
During the interview, Zhong emphasized the importance of innovation as a driving force behind the company’s growth. “Innovation is in our DNA,” Zhong stated. He outlined LONGi's significant investment in research and development, which he said had been instrumental in achieving new milestones in solar efficiency. This focus on R&D would have enabled LONGi to continuously improve its product offering and maintain a competitive edge in the rapidly evolving solar industry.
Zhong’s insights provide a clear vision of the company’s path forward, reinforcing its position as a leader in the solar industry. The interview serves as a testament to LONGi’s unwavering commitment to innovation, sustainability, and collaboration. As the company continues to push the boundaries of solar technology, particularly with BC technology, it remains dedicated to making a positive impact on the global energy landscape.
