Frankfurt, 16.08.2024 – LONGi, a global leader in solar technology, has introduced its first LONGi Human Rights Policy, underscoring the company’s commitment to ethical business practices and the protection of human rights across its global operations. The Policy reflects LONGi’s dedication to upholding international human rights standards as outlined in the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. By establishing a formal framework, LONGi aims to ensure that human rights are respected throughout its value chain, from sourcing raw materials to delivering high-quality solar products to customers worldwide.

Zhang Haimeng, Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer of LONGi, commented: “Strong corporate governance is vital for creating enduring, sustainable value for our stakeholders. As detailed in our 2023 Sustainability Report, publishing our Human Rights Policy was one of the central goals for sustainable governance. This Policy marks a significant step in our journey towards diversity, equity and inclusion. This also refreshed commitment mirrors our aspiration to evolve into a respectable solar manufacturing enterprise that commands the pride of all stakeholders.”

Strict prohibition of forced labour and child labour are key principles

LONGi's Human Rights Policy is based on a set of fundamental principles, including a strict prohibition of forced labor, child labor, and discrimination.

The Policy also emphasizes the importance of safe and healthy working conditions, fair wages, and the right to freedom of association and collective bargaining. LONGi is committed to maintaining transparency in its operations and will regularly report on its progress in complying with these principles.

Global implementation supported by dedicated Working Group

To effectively implement its Human Rights Policy, LONGi has established a comprehensive governance structure, including a dedicated Human Rights Working Group. This group will oversee the Policy’s application across all levels of the company and work closely with suppliers and partners to ensure compliance. Training programs and awareness campaigns will be conducted to educate employees about the importance of Human Rights in the workplace.

Protecting human rights throughout the value chain is fundamental for sustainable future

As a key player in the renewable energy sector, LONGi recognizes the crucial role that human rights play in achieving a sustainable future. The company’s commitment to ethical practices is aligned with its broader mission to drive the global transition to clean energy while fostering social responsibility.

At the same time, LONGi aims at meeting the critical expectations set forth by its customers and partners, investors and rating agencies, demonstrating its commitment to transparency and accountability.

The Human Rights Policy is a fundamental addition to LONGi’s Code of Business Conduct and Supplier CSR Code of Conduct

LONGi will continue to refine and expand its Human Rights Policy as part of its ongoing commitment to corporate responsibility.
