Spotlighting Our Commitment to Sustainability at RE+ 2024

This year in Anaheim, LONGi was at RE+ for its 20th anniversary, an important milestone that made connecting with clients and colleagues especially rewarding. Featuring thousands of industry professionals, RE+ was focused on pushing the boundaries of clean energy even further, with a particular spotlight on sustainability.

Sustainability is a topic that is intrinsic to LONGi’s mission—as a result of our commitment to the environment, in 2023, we cut global emissions by 812 million tCO2e, dropped our power consumption by 9.35%, and reduced our water consumption by 12.75%. Plus, we invested a total of $78.72M USD in environmental protection and have recorded zero major illegal emissions/leakage incidents since.

Meanwhile, our ‘Win-Win Collaboration, Joint Innovation, Green Decarbonization’ program has been extremely successful. By bringing together our suppliers and partners on climate actions, we’ve intensified the call for upstream and downstream enterprises to build a green industrial infrastructure – further improving the solar supply chain ecosystem and accelerating the global energy transition.

Award & Presentation Highlights

We were honored and grateful to receive EUPDs ‘Top Brand PV Award Canada’ at our booth, where attendees also got a close-up look at our breakthrough solar modules and a chance to engage directly with our team members. A sincere thank you to EUPD for this prestigious award, which recognizes our work in the photovoltaic (PV) sector, including our manufacturing of innovative quality models.

“LONGi's unwavering commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions throughout Canada is highlighted by their outstanding Net Promoter Score and strong brand recognition among installers." - Daniel Fuchs, Chief Customer Officer of EUPD Research

Interaction & Engagement at the Booth

There were many other engaging activities at our booth, including a ‘Sustainable Practice Vote.’ Our team was inspired by everyone who stopped by to cast a ballot for their favorite innovative low-carbon lifestyle practice – developed by LONGi employees and families – using only recycled materials.

Not only did the vote showcase the impact of simple, eco-conscious choices, like reusing non-plastic water bottles and opting for non-plastic reusable shopping bags, but it got booth visitors discussing the importance of a more sustainable world. The activity also underscored LONGI’s dedication to a low-carbon footprint through our own operational practices, including:

  • Prioritizing renewable energy sources
  • Reducing waste
  • Optimizing energy consumption during manufacturing

Our booth’s activities continued with our ‘LONGi Product Personality Test,’ which included questions, such as: “If you were a solar module, what type of solar module would you be?” It was both a fun exercise for the participants and a great way for us to understand our customers’ priorities. Knowing what’s most important to you, i.e. longevity, power, durability, price or other, helps us better ensure we meet your business and customer needs.

Attendees were also treated to an inspiring speech from Alyssa Huang, our Product Solution Manager, who focused on our latest advancements in wire wafer cutting, monocrystalline cells, PERC cells and bifacial modules. Her presentation highlighted our leadership in industry trends and the evolving supply chain demands to help customers meet energy goals. That includes a $1B USD annual investment in R&D.

Finally, our Business Development Manager, Daniel Inns, spoke to a packed group of energy professionals on LONGi’s latest innovations, including the Hi-MO 5 Ice-Shield. Designed for PV installations in regions with extreme weather risks, this module can endure the impact of up to 55 mm hailstones and withstand strong winds of up to 171.33 mph through:

  • 3.2 mm integrated top layer of tempered glass
  • 6005-T6 high-strength anodized aluminum alloy material
  • Innovative, load-bearing design

Get to Know Our Growing Portfolio

Keep exploring LONGi innovation by checking out our lineup of North America solutions – which features our cutting edge Hi-MO 5 PV modules series, designed for commercial, industrial, and residential roofs, as well as ground-mount projects. Through advanced technology, including bifacial panels and the ability to overcome LID degradation, the series can generate a larger energy yield and faster ROI.

Right now, extreme weather events – particularly hailstorms – are on the rise. To ensure PV sites remain a viable and reliable investment, even in the most challenging environments, we’ve recently released our Hi-MO 5 Ice Shield module, integrating our time-tested technology with fortified materials, such as aluminum alloys and thick, tempered glass. As a result, sites can withstand up to 55mm hailstones, as well as 17X the impact energy when compared to the IEC standard 25mm hail test.

For over 20 years, LONGi’s technological and manufacturing leadership has underscored our commitment to helping accelerate the clean energy transition. Because of our high success rate and valued partnerships, our products continue to be widely used all over the world, from alpine grasslands to deserts, and from lakes to households.
